Americans around the world are chasing turkeys, checking football schedules, creating menus, calling family to big feasts or phone visits--it's Thanksgiving time! As for me, I am not about to chase a "turkey" around the house, unless it's to make him clean his room...grin; I'm not a football fan; I've not got a BIG family, but I DO have a big menu--and I love food, so look out, supermarket--here I come!

But hold the turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, veggies, cranberry salad, pumpkin pie--that's NOT what Thanksgiving is all about....and before we all sit down to a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner with family and loved ones, can we take a few minutes to thank GOD for His goodness to us? Now come with me to the Well, bring your Bible, and open it to Psalm 103....it's time for a THANKFUL HEART at Peggie's Place--the THANKFUL TUMMY comes later!!

A Helping Word...or Two!

Psalm 103 is titled "a psalm of unmixed praise" and here it is...the letters of the word THANKFUL are all mixed up below within the verses of this psalm - but I think you'll find them easily enough, and we can all have THANKFUL hearts!

Thank You for reigning over all
--I'm glad You're in control of my life!

"...The Lord hath prepared his T HRONE in the heavens,
and his kingdom ruleth over all (verse 19)."

Thank You for Your never-ending grace--
only YOU know how much I need it daily!

"H E hath not dealt with us after our sins,
nor rewarded us according to our iniquities (verse 10)."

Thank You for being my Heavenly Father--
I love being Your child!!

"A S a father pitieth his children,
so the Lord pitieth them that fear him (verse 13)."

Thank You for Your benefits--they're out of this world!

"Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget N OT all his benefits (verse 2)."

Thank You for knowing me--
and still loving me!

"For he K NOWETH our frame; he remembereth that we are dust (verse 14)."

Thank You for forgiving me--
You are an awesome Savior!

"Who F ORGIVETH all thine iniquities,
who healeth all thy diseases (verse 3)."

Thank You for being with me--AND my kids--forever!

"But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting
U PON those who fear him, and his righteousness unto children's children (verse 17)."

Thank You for being LORD of all--
and Lord of my thankful heart!

"Bless ye the L ORD, all ye his hosts,
ye ministers of his, that do his pleasure.
Bless the Lord, all his works in all places of his dominion;
bless the Lord, O my soul (verses 21, 22)."

Thanksgiving food, family, friends, and fun are a wonderful part of a wonderful day--but a truly thankful heart knows its priorities, and so on this Thanksgiving Day, we thank Him, first and most of all, with grateful heart and soul, for being the God we love and serve.
