The Bull in the Red-Brimmed Hat

A red hat lady high on life
walked into town one day.
What happened next was quite absurd.
Amazing you might say.

She threw her hat into the ring
but had no plan to run.
A midlife stroll was more her speed.
Campaigning days were done.

She'd won the hearts of spouse and kids.
Her office was secure.
And though her house was brown not white,
it didn't bother her.

What bothered her was the black bull
who saw her brim of red.
She wanted to retrieve her hat,
but feared she'd soon be dead.

El toro snorted mad and loud.
He charged her rouge chapeau.
But choosing not to gore the thing,
he hung his head down low.

And with his horns he gave the hat
a boost into the air.
What happened next, you'd hardly guess.
It made the lady stare.

The bull paraded round the ring
complete with his new crown.
Her cherished hat was on his head.
He knew what he had found.

And though the hatless woman grinned
to see this silly thing,
she longed to have her bonnet back
that now was in the ring.

"Give me my hat, you stubborn bull.
Without it I'm not dressed.
In fact, that treasure marks my worth.
It makes me feel quite blessed."

The bull's head jerked, the hat flew off
and landed on her head,
And off the woman went to meet
her lady friends in red.
