Oh, YOU'RE lookin' for it too? Chocolate-challenged/enhanced saints that we are, it jumps out at us--from the taunting magazine ads to the tasty dessert bar, from the mall deli to the church potluck dinner. And of course, we catch it, for faithful fudge-eaters NEVER fudge...or do they??
Ever "fudge" on time? "I just don't have time--I'll skip His Word today!"
How about truth? "I just told a little white lie--THAT surely doesn't count!"
And trust? "Oh, I know I need to trust God totally for this--but what if...?? Maybe I can help Him out just a little!"
Fudging a little--here and there--can become a way of life--and soon we've lost the spark of pure love we once knew, the sweet Presence we once enjoyed, and the sheer determination we once had to put HIM first. How many times we must sadden the heart of God with our inconsistent living and loving! And HIS response?
He NEVER fudges! He is faithful! We can count on Him to be right on time to meet our needs. We can rely on the truth of His Word that never changes--and we can trust Him totally for the big and little things of our lives. That's our God!
So where's the fudge? While it cools down on our kitchen counters, may it not be found in our cooled-down hearts. May we strive to be as faithful as our God, the God who NEVER fudges--in time, truth, trust--He is ever faithful both now and forevermore!
...Just a thought from my heart to yours! Next time you enjoy some delicious, mouthwatering fudge that's fit to die for, remember--fudger that you are, He loves you where you are, just AS you are--but don't fudge forever. Be faithful to Him as He is to you. You will delight HIS heart--and YOURS--and honestly, that's better than the best fudge in the whole wide world!
