No, I'm not lost in time...I'm just quoting a treasured invitation I hold hopefully as a collector's item! Now I'll be honest--*I* wasn't invited--I just happen to have one given to me and proudly it's a part of my personal collection. Now let me quickly assure you that I'm not invited to the NEXT one either...but neither are you, right?
"Celebrating America's Spirit Together" is the theme for the coming inaugural events--and it's a celebration we will all attend in spirit, if not in person! A celebration to remember, for sure--it's history--it's America--and we will watch with pride--and with prayers for our new President, George W. Bush.
Reminds me of a grand celebration in the Bible...not many attended, unless you count the angels who rejoiced over one lost soul who found his way home. His dad ran to meet him, hugged him, held a big party for him--"he who was lost is found!" The Prodigal Son came home--and all heaven and one happy dad rejoiced.
Does the Heavenly Father rejoice when one of His kids comes home? Does all heaven rejoice when a soul receives Christ? You'd better believe it...the rejoicing in heaven far exceeds the rejoicing on earth for ANY celebration we can ever think of. A soul has been redeemed, snatched from the enemy's stronghold, set free by the Blood of Christ. One day back in time, that soul was YOU--and ME--now THAT'S something to remember, and to celebrate!
Someday another celebration will take place--and we, the redeemed children of the Lord, are invited. It will be the biggest celebration that heaven and earth have ever known. ALL the kids will come home--to their eternal home--loved ones will be united; Jesus Christ will be crowned King of Kings and Lord of Lords; Satan will be banished forever--and our spirits will soar as we stand, and then bow, in the presence of the Lord...what a day that will be!
Until then...sure, go ahead and enjoy the inaugural celebrations from the comfort of your living room--as I will do--but remember, a greater, grander, more glorious celebration is on its way for the people of the Lord--and by His grace, I will be there...how about you!!
