OK, upfront: this is not a political discourse for off-shore drilling - honest! It's a spiritual twist to a clever phrase I heard chanted at the recent Republican National Convention, just last night. "Drill, Baby, Drill" - now there just HAS to be a devotional in that - and there is!!

There's a treasure of "living water" out there - beyond ourselves! You'll not find it in the ocean depths or the deepest well in the world. It's found only by "drilling deep" into the spritual nature and life of God Himself......and if you, as a Christian believer, are longing for a deeper walk with God and flow of the Spirit of God in your life, listen up!!

Drill deep into God's Word! It's alive, it flows with rich resources, fresh daily, for the needs of your life. Love His Word - read it, meditate on it, drink deeply - it's your life resource and spiritual strength!

Drill deep into God's Spirit! HE is alive, and His Spirit, alive and well on Planet Earth, does indwell the heart of every believer. Rely on His Spirit for guidance, for the fruit and overflowing of the Spirit, promised to every believer. He wants to empower you this day!

Drill deep into God's Mission! He lives forevermore to spread His love to all. He created all, He loves all, He died for all and He lives for all. The heart of God is a missionary heart, reaching out to every person in the world. Be a part of what God is doing in this very needy world. There's a rich blessing you can give to your world - and a rich one waiting for you alive!

His Word, His Spirit, His Mission - it's all alive and available to every believer. Get out that drill - or whatever it is they use to off-shore drill (!!) - and "drill, baby, drill!"

Some Kid Humor - Not Very Deep!!

MELANIE (age 5) asked her Granny how old she was. Granny replied she was so old she didn't remember any more. Melanie said, "If you don't remember you must look in the back of your panties. Mine say five to six."

STEVEN (age 3) hugged and kissed his Mom goodnight. "I love you so much, that when you die I'm going to bury you outside my bedroom window."

BRITTANY (age 4) had an earache and wanted a painkiller. She tried in vain to take the lid off the bottle. Seeing her frustration, her Mom explained it was a childproof cap and she'd have to open it for her. Eyes wide with wonder, the little girl asked: "How does it know it's me?

SUSAN (age 4) was drinking juice when she got the hiccups. "Please don't give me this juice again," she said, "It makes my teeth cough."

D I (age 4) stepped onto the bathroom scale and asked: "How much do I cost?"

MARC (age 4) was engrossed in a young couple that were hugging and kissing in a restaurant. Without taking his eyes off them, he asked his dad: "Why is he whispering in her mouth?"

JAMES (age 4) was listening to a Bible story His dad read: "The man named Lot was warned to take his wife and flee out of the city but his wife looked back and was turned to salt." Concerned, James asked: "What happened to the flea?"

TAMMY (age 4) was with her mother when they met an elderly, rather wrinkled woman her Mom knew. Tammy looked at her for awhile and then asked, "Why doesn't your skin fit your face?

The Sermon
I think this Mom will never forget.... "Dear Lord," the minister began, with arms extended toward heaven and a rapturous look on his upturned face. "Without you, we are but dust." He would have continued, but at that moment my very little daughter (who was listening!) leaned over to me and asked quite audibly in her shrill little girl voice, "Mom, what is butt dust?
