A Hurting Word... "WWJD?" If you are a Christian teen, you know exactly what I'm asking you! If you're from the Dark Ages, as *I* am, according to my teens, then you may not have a clue...so ask your kids! Now if their communication skills are in the same ballpark with my teens, maybe I had better just tell you myself! "WWJD?" is the acronym for the words, "What Would Jesus Do?" and are taken from the best-selling classic, In His Steps by Charles Sheldon (1896). It's a fictitious account of what happens when people from a small town begin to practice living as Jesus would have, in all sorts of life's circumstances. This little phrase changed the lives of many townspeople in the novel, many readers who loved and applied the book to their lives, and now today, it is touching our teens in a novel way.
"WWJD?" is a marketable product sold in Christian bookstores everywhere--T-shirts, bracelets, necklaces, etc--worn by Christian teens in our high schools, and even colleges. When they find themselves in a sticky situation, the simple initials "WWJD?" on what they are wearing become a reminder of their Christian values. It has helped many a teenager in a moment of decision or temptation--and this novel idea has caught on like wild-fire throughout the nation. It is a best-selling item in any Christian bookstore you visit. And if this simple reminder can help our teenagers live for Christ in their difficult 90s world, I'm all for it!
Well, what WOULD Jesus do when faced with the temptations, sin, trials, and tests of the 90s? Did HE face any of the "hard stuff" we face today? Let's put on our "WWJD?" bracelets and walk the path leading to the Well...I want to see what Jesus would do if He walked where WE walk, wouldn't you?
Does Jesus know about my battles with the enemy ofmy soul? Does He understand the fierce temptations I go through? And what about the bitter stuff of life? Does He have any clue what *I* am going through--the sorrow, the sadness, the depression that's in the cup? And what about my broken heart? I've been betrayed by a friend, a lover, someone very dear--does HE know?
A Helping Word...or Two!
Jesus knew EXACTLY what to do--He loved the Father and lived in His Will. He trusted the Father and lived in His Love. He surrendered to the Father and walked in His ways. And SO CAN YOU! He does know; He does understand, for you see, He has walked where you walk--He's "been there/done that" and can help YOU today--with or without that bracelet!! Now believe it, live like you believe it--and have a joyful, victorious life this week! What Would Jesus Do in the Battle of Life?Read Matthew 4:1-11.

And that's just a word or two--from my heart to yours! His Healing Words
"For even hereunto were ye called, because Christ also suffered to us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps (1 Peter 2:21 KJV).""Lord, when I am faced with temptation, trials, and the traumas of life, help me to live and do as YOU would do. You have walked this path before me--and I want to follow, by faith, in your steps this week. Help me. In Jesus' Name, Amen."
