What does God look like? Ask a young child and he may draw you a picture of a very old man with long white beard. Ask an abused adult and he may paint you an image of a harsh, mean judge, with a gavel ready to pound out His latest judgment. We each "see" God from our own perspective of Him....good or bad. We have no photograph album to check, no Web site from which to download a picture, no clip art file to which we can refer. In the final analysis, God is a Spirit; no one has ever seen Him. We just know that God is GOD...and how He LOOKS is unimportant...what He DOES is all-important.

In the Bible God is personified as having eyes to see, ears to hear, a mouth to speak--and arms to hold. The arms of God, though not touchable, are very real to the heart of a Christian believer. Come with me to the Well--whatever you need, He waits with open arms to give you this day!

A Helping Word...or Two!

The Everlasting Arms of God!

Sometime there are no answers to life's questions--when nothing, or no one, can comfort your grieving, sorrowing heart. You love music--but it doesn't help. You love your family--but they can't help either. The doctor, the lawyer, the pastor--no one can fix it. Why? Because it's a spiritual need and only a divine touch from God can give relief. There may seem to be no human answer to your need, but there's a GOD who understands and will not leave you. Don't give up--for in your deepest, darkest moment, THAT's when the Heavenly Father steps in, puts His loving arms beneath you, supports you and upholds you. It's so very personal--and it can only happen within the quietness of your heart. He waits to comfort as only He can--won't you let Him do it for YOU right now!

"The eternal God is thy refuge and underneath
are the everlasting arms (Deuteronomy 33:27 KJV)."

The Embracing Arms of God!

Babies, kids, lovers, husbands and wives, grandmas and grandpas--we all love to be held. There's something warm and comforting, loving and affirming, to be held in a loved one's arms. But there are times when human love is just not enough. Of course, it's not! It's your Heavenly Father you are needing...and He's there. He's there to put His arms around that broken heart, that wounded spirit, that fallen soul. He loves you as no human can; He wants to hold you, to affirm to you His divine love. It's SO very personal--and it can only happen within the stillness of your own heart--perhaps in a moment of prayer, in a song of worship, in a verse of comfort--but somewhere, somehow, He comes, and when He does, you FEEL His arms around you. The divine love of God surrounds you with comfort only He can give. Don't give up--for in your most hurtful, broken moment, THAT'S when your Heavenly Father will step in, put those arms around you, hold and embrace you close to His heart. In the quietness of your heart, let Him do that for YOU right now!

The Extending Arms of God!

We live in a pleasure-seeking, sin-indulging world as many seek to drown their pains and problems in the enticing lusts of this world. Do they hurt? Sure, but they pretend--and they party on. And when the party's over, in the deep quietness of their hearts, they know it's not enough--they need something more. Of course! They need the Lord! And that's where WE come in. For God has no arms but ours to reach them with His love. That His plan! With awe and amazement, I continually watch Him use US, His servants, to place HIS arms around the world of the Internet to souls seeking forgiveness, comfort, healing, and help. And He's NOT done--He wants to use you and me in greater ways to reach out to this world. We are His hands and His arms--extended to the world--reaching, always reaching to the world He loves. I want to be those arms...don't you?

The everlasting, embracing, extending arms of God. They're there, for saint and sinner alike. Where the human love of our lives ends, the divine love of our God has only begun...He'll be there for you, for me, for a whole world. For He's truly got the whole world in His hands. His arms reach to the creation He loves, to us all--and we are blessed; we are secure; we are SAFE in His arms. As Valentine's Day approaches, you may be feeling empty arms and a broken heart. Know that He cares. He loves you and He will enfold you in His divine arms--for THAT'S who He is...a God of love and understanding and He's there for us all!

...and that's just a thought or two--from my heart to yours!
