Welcome to Web Design 101...you are about to enter the world of TABLES...a complicated HTML coding device to place columns and charts on a Web site. Now if you know what you're doing, it's a piece of cake! If you don't, it TAKES the cake! And last week it did! I worked hard preparing a nicely designed "table" for Peggie's Place, was quite proud of it, and sent my friends to see it, waiting, of course, for the applause. One TRUE friend was not afraid to tell me the "bad news." Her browser was not interpreting my Netscape codes correctly--and there was an ugly royal blue tablecloth on my nice table! You could hardly SEE the food! I decided to check it out in MIE, only to find to my dismay, it looked even worse....Ever see a long-skinny hot dog with 15 rooms stuffed into it, lengthwise? A pretty funny picture...and of course, I had no idea how to fix any of it! After muttering, moaning, and mainly tearing my hair out (slight exaggeration...grin), I FINALLY was able to tweak and twitch it to work. Whew! Talk to me about TABLES and I will probably throw the nearest hard roll at you!

Don't laugh too hard, for you know when something falls apart at Peggie's Place, somehow the Lord turns it around into a devotional--and He did! For you see, God knows how to turn tables around...He's been doing it for a long time, for a lot of people. Come to the Well with me and let's see how He does it! MAYBE He'll do it for you...if you let Him!

A Helping Word...or Two!

A Table Turnaround for Peter...From Fear to Faith!

Welcome to the table, Peter! There's just one catch....the table is ON the water, Peter, and only people who walk on water get to taste its bounty! Watch Peter gingerly lift one foot up and over the boat...not TOO hard....but then to walk on the water, Peter, you need BOTH feet out of the boat....Oh, no...this is TOO scary, but Jesus calls me and I KNOW I can do it....Peter begins to walk on water....amazing....he's really doing it....and then a big wave splashes, the wind roars, and fear grabs his heart, along with his feet....down he falls, but NOT to drown, for Jesus was watching every step, waiting to turn the table--and He did. He reached out His strong hand, took Peter's trembling one, and pulled him up. Side by side, they BOTH walked back to the boat....don't you wish they had VCRs to record that moment in time!

Has God called you to do the impossible? You're afraid? Of course...you're human....but I know a Table Turner...His Name is Jesus....and He'll take that table of fear and turn it around into a supernatural kind of faith you've never known...faith to do the impossible and the improbable in HIS Name...He did it for Peter and He'll do it for YOU...if you'll let Him!

A Table Turnaround for Paul...From Hatred to Heaven's Bounty!

Welcome to the table, saints...there's just one catch...the table's being served by a "Christian hater"...perhaps you'd better wait until the Lord shows up on the scene! Paul, you hate Christians with a vengeance and religious determination that you're doing God's work. You think Christians are to kill, and you're on your way right now to your next "job." But wait....Someone's about to mess up your plans, and instead of slaughtering the Christians, you'll be serving them. Hard to believe, but when the Lord's light shines on a man, no matter how hard or hateful, Paul, the table turns! You meet a Man called Jesus on the road to Damascus, He changes your life, and the table turns--from hatred to heaven's bounty. And the amazing grace of it all is that we now see you serving--we've read Galatians 5:22,23 - and we see the Fruit of the Spirit all over that turned table! All because Jesus came and changed your life!

Has God found a "killer heart" in you? "He who hates his brother is a murderer" and if that's you, the Lord's ready to turn that table around! Sure, you're hurt. Sure, it wasn't right. But you're the one suffering the most by holding onto the anger. Give it to Him--let Him take the hatred, the hurt, the unforgiveness, and turn it into the sweetest, most loving spirit you've ever known. He's in the business of turning tables...He did it for Paul, and He waits to do it for YOU! Won't you let Him?

A Table Turnaround for Mary...From Sadness to Joy!

Welcome to the table, Mary! There's just one problem...you have no desire for food. You just want to curl up into a ball and cry--we know what's wrong. Your Lord DIED. He left you all alone. The One who forgave your sins just forsook you....who would want to eat? But wait, Mary! Come to the table...He's calling your name..."Mary," He calls, in loving, life-filled tones. He's ALIVE, Mary and He has power to turn sadness to joy.! He's turning the table right now....get up, wipe those tears, see your Lord...and smile!

Can you identify with Mary? Has someone or something turned off the joy you once knew? Discouragement, distress, despondency can leave you sad, empty and hurting inside--you try to help yourself, but you know you can't. Of course, you can't! You need the Table-Turner, Jesus Christ, who will take that heavy heart, turn it around, heal it completely, and give you the joy of the Lord--even in the middle of a tough situation. "The joy of the Lord is your strength," and it's strong enough to turn around any situation, no matter how sad or hopeless. He did it for Mary...and He's waiting to do it for YOU too. Won't you let Him?

Let's talk about tables...the kind the LORD wants to turn around for you. He'll turn your fear to faith, your hatred to love, your sadness to joy--He's the same, yesterday, today and forever! The people in the Bible were not fantasy figures--they were REAL people with REAL hearts and hurts--just like ours. If Jesus could do it for them, there's hope for us all! Got a table in your life that needs turned? Take it to Him--He's an expert at turning tables around. Just ask Him and watch what happens!

"Lord, I need some table-turning in my life. There's fear, hatred, sadness--lots of STUFF that doesn't belong. Turn it around, upside down, inside out, whatever You need to do - just take over my life, and turn it around forever, I pray! In Jesus Name, Amen."
