Are you hurting? Then you've come to the right place--the place where long ago a woman from Samaria found help and healing. From human answers? No--from the One Who IS the Answer! Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord, awaits us all at the Well today--come with me, and let's meet Him there!

A Hurting Word...
"What do you do for a living?" "Oh, I'm just a mom!" JUST A MOM? No way! You've carried and cradled the next generation; you've been nurse, cook, laundry woman, maid, organizer, supervisor, control manager, chairwoman of the grievance board, cuddler, hugger, listener, scolder, grounder, and have juggled other jobs for which there ARE no names--you hold the most privileged position in the world. Hold your head high with pride--forget the grey hairs--and celebrate! You are a MOM--and you are honored at Peggie's Place this week!AND...you are especially honored at the Well...for just as Jesus brought love, respect, and honor to women in Bible days, He waits at the well with that same love, respect, and honor, to welcome YOU! He doesn't care about your age, your hair color, your dress size, your bank account, or the home you live in--He cares about you and what's going on in your life right now. Come to the Well and let's talk to Him there!
A Helping Word...or Two!Now everyone knows that mom is the head female officer of justice in the home--it may be time out, or a grounding penalty, or even a spanking--but has anyone called you "pastor" lately? Well, you ARE--you are a minister of God's Love--a priestess of His Highest Royal Order! You may never stand behind a pulpit to minister the Word of God to a congregation of thousands. Your pulpit is in the kitchen--as your kids help you prepare cookies; in the living room, as you watch a children's video; in the bedroom, as you read a Bible story and teach them to pray. Your congregation are the little people who live in your home! Sometimes your sermon is wordless--a hug, a pat on the back--a look that says, "That's enough!" Sometimes the sermon is verbal--words of correction, words of encouragement, words of praise--and words of apology when we blow it!--but always words of love.Let God's love minister through you, in "teachable moments," to the ones He has entrusted to your care. And when the "minister" gets weary and worn-out (and it happens!), and the words that come out are a little louder than they should be (and it happens!), remember, Jesus understands. His love, grace, and mercy extends to moppets--but also to Moms! Never forget--they're HIS kids, and special in His sight--BUT so are you!
Now everyone knows that every mom has eyes in the back of her head, and perfect X-ray vision-- she sees every misdeed ever committed, and if she doesn't see it, she suspects it--and investigates. For Mom is a genius! NOTHING is hidden from her--not even the note from the nurse saying, "Mrs. Parent, please have your child's eyes checked. Our testing reveals a possible problem." AND days, weeks later, Mom find that note hidden deeply within Child's closet ("Child" needed glasses badly and was too scared to let Mom know!)...You guessed it...that's a story from MY journal, and funny now! But MOM found out! (And Joey's been wearing glasses ever since!)Well, Mom is not just an observer of the rights and wrongs of her children--of undone homework, unmade beds, and unbrushed teeth--she's an observer of God's Plan for each child's life. She watches, with eagle eyes, to see talents and creativities unfold, uniquely and specially in each child's growing years. One child may be plead for computer time, another may toss footballs through a window--each different, but gradually growing into the man or woman God is preparing them to be. How wonderful to be a part of that plan--to observe and participate in the development of a child's life. Let the eyes of God watch through you, in "observable moments," the ones entrusted to your care. Guide each child in the direction of the talent you observe. And when the "observer" gets weary of watching, remember, HE's there to help. His wisdom and care extends to moppets--but also to Moms! Never forget--they're HIS kids, and special in His sight--BUT so are you!
Now everyone knows that mom knows how to mold the BEST Jell-O desserts and the best Play-Doh props in the world--she can also recyle and re-mold all kinds of leftovers into unimaginable casseroles that fit into NO food group--she's a genius! But when all the make-fun-of-mom moments are off, and those quiet, listen-to-God moments are on, Mom hears a deep, inner Voice whispering, "You are MORE than a molder of Jell-O, Play-Doh, and leftover food--You are a molder of a life; you are participating in the creation of a person for all eternity. You are partners with ME!"How wonderful to know that we, as moms, though imperfect, impractical, and impatient (or is that just ME?), are the molders of lives for the Kingdom of God. We train, we teach, and sometimes we talk until we hear ourselves and shudder--for we don't always do it right! But HE's there's to guide and help--to give answers and insight when it's not humanly available. His creative work extends to moppets--but also to Moms! Never forget--they're HIS kids, and special in His sight--BUT so are you!
JUST a Mom? No way--you are loved, honored, and respected by your Lord. He knows the heavy load you carry daily. He knows it's a 24-hour, sometimes thankless job. And He knows your heart--your love for HIM, and for your kids! He sees you with eyes of love, and praises you before the Father--for you are not JUST a Mom--you're a minister of His love, an observer of His Plan, and a molder of His Creation! You are a queen in His sight today--so put on your royal robe, place that crown on your head, hold out that sceptre of grace--ONCE more--to those wild, wacky, and wonderful kids you call your own--and have a HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!
His Healing WordsProverbs 31:10-31 - The Proverbs 31 Woman!
"Lord, I'm no wonder woman; sometimes I just wonder how I will ever make it. The responsibilites are many; the rewards are few. Many times I feel as though I am JUST a Mom. Lord, help me know deep within my heart that I'm more! I'm a minister, an observer, a molder, for YOU--and I am precious in Your sight. Give me strength, wisdom, grace--and an extra dose of patience, as I partner with you to raise my children for the glory of God. In Jesus' Name, Amen."

Please e-mail me to say hi.
