In promulgating your esoteric cogitations or articulating your superficial sentimentalities, and amicable philosophical or psychological observations, beware of platitudinous ponderosity. Let your conversational communications possess a compacted conciseness, a clarified comprehensibility, a coalescent cogency, and a concatenated consistency. Eschew obfuscation and all conglomeration of flatulent garrulity, jejune babblement, and asinine affectations. Let your extemporaneous descantings and unpremeditated expatiations have intelligibility and voracious vivacity without rodomontade or thrasonical bombast. Sedulously avoid all polysyllabic profundity, pompous prolificacy, and vain vapid verbosity.
In short, "Be brief and don't use big words."

"When the Blueprint Changes!"

(On Unsolicited Remodeling)

God,
I wish You'd asked me
Before you started remodeling my temple.
I might have given You input
Or at least asked that You not make
So many changes
So quickly.

I feel like a stranger here
Stumbling in the dark.
It's just not familiar
Any more.
Is there a blueprint somewhere
So I can grasp the new plan
And find my way around?

The problem is, Lord,
I'm still the same inside.
Still the same drive:
Work to do,
Places to go,
People to minister to,
Songs to sing,
The same old me.
Only the framework has changed.

Parts of me won't cooperate any more,
And it's difficult,
If not impossible
To do all those things.
I would love it, Lord
If You would put things back the way they were.
I know that's not too hard for you.

But I trust You.
If they're not going to change,
Then help me, Lord,
To find my way around again.

Help me find the doors
In these new walls that seem impassable.
Show me where I can turn the corner
And find the joys of this new house.
Show me where the sunshine streams in
To brighten the dark interior,
And help me hear the songs
Echoing in these new hallways.

It's easier to think now that
I'll be glad You won't be leaving me here forever.
I'm looking forward to that perfect temple
You've got planned for me in eternity.
In the meantime,
I trust you to show me the way
And help me abide contentedly in You.
