A jungle playground where I play, play, play!
(Use your "Turn-Around Twins" puppets-on-a-straw-with circle faces taped at the top of the straw, back-to-back-one is "Tiger" and the other, "Teddie.")
Tiger: Grrrrrrrrrrr.......I don't LIKE me! I think I should have purple eyes, a balloon nose and green teeth......and I DON'T.....i LIKE being different, can't you tell?
Teddie: You're not DIFFERENT, Tiger. You are WEIRD!
Tiger: Well, I am ME and that's who I am. Why can't I look exactly as I wish? That's not fair!
Teddie: Uh....Tiger, maybe I don't think purple eyes, a balloon nose and green teeth are exactly what He had in mind for you. How would all the kids coming to the jungle know you were a TIGER?
Tiger: Well, I'd have a special low-pitched Grrrrrrrrrr.....like this! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.......
Teddie: Tiger, all tigers have a low-pitched GRRRRRRRRRRR...but you know what? God really did make you special.....He designed just how you should look, and he even gave you a weird personality-I mean, a DIFFERENT personality-funny and wild.......I'm sweet and cuddly-we are ALL different.
Tiger: You mean GOD made me? WOW.......did He make anyone else besides you and me?
Teddie: He sure did.......come on with me to hear the Bible story and you will find out.
Tiger: OK, I'm comin'.......wait till I find my orange sunglasses and my polka-dot blue hat......
Mama: Kids, did you ever see a tiger with orange sunglasses and a polka-dot blue hat? At LEAST God did not give him PURPLE eyes, a BALLOON nose and GREEN teeth......God made him to look just like a TIGER-and He made YOU to look like a little (boy or girl). Tigers are special and so are YOU. Let's find out about God's BIG, BIG, BIGGEST job today -the day He made the FIRST MAN!
(Tip to parents: Have a set of colored markers or crayons on hand! It would be fun to draw a "tiger" face and add the wacky colors Tiger has picked for his face, his sunglasses and hat, one at a time, as the skit progresses - or better yet, let your child do the coloring as you supervise the project!)
Ted & Teddie Time (for boy & girl teds & teddies)
A jungle talk-time where I learn to love God, family, friends & ME!'
(You will need a mirror, preferably full-length, but a small mirror is fine; a large piece of white butcher paper on which a child's body would fit (newspapers taped together would also work). You will also need crayons or colored markers.)
I'm glad God made animals like Tiger and Teddie, but I'm especially glad God made PEOPLE like you and me. Would you like to make a person? Could you? Not really, but we can pretend. Let's make YOU. Lie down on this piece of paper and I am going to trace all around your body with this black marker (or crayon). Lie very still!
Now it's your turn. Here are the colors-and you can design your own body to look exactly as you did in the mirror-or you can design a wacky body with strange colors and funny features-whatever you'd like.
In the center of your "body," print "God made (name)."
Prayer: Thank You, God, for making people-babies, little kids, teenagers, grown-ups like Mom and Dad, Grandma and Grandpa. Thank You especially for making me just the way I am-very special. Help me to always remember how much You love me-JUST THE WAY I AM! In Jesus' Name, Amen."
