Joey is a graduate of Evangel University, followed by a Master's degree in math from Missouri State University, and a Ph.D. in math from Washington University in St. Louis, MO. He is currently a mathematician with the United States Government in the DC/Maryland area.

Today, December 31 2011, Dr. Joey begins another decade....30 years old.....how could he be this old....how could "I" be this old....grin! Happy birthday, dear Joey, our pride and joy, firstborn, New Year's Eve baby of the Bohanon family!

Mathematicians are a special breed.....they live and breathe numbers above and beyond the norm - check out Joey's thesis and dissertation and you will understand! Gobbledygook to the average brain....games galore to the figure-loving mind! Math gifting carries over into the other loves of Joey's life - Astronomy, Bible Quiz...and housekeeping skills, still in development stage!!

M athematician

A fourth-grade Sunday School class predicted it! As the teacher went around the room asking what each child would like to be when he grew up, Joey promptly, without hesitation, proclaimed, "Mathematician!" His dream come true, he leads a highly numerical life, figuring out the problems of the world...or whatever! We are so proud of the brilliant giftings God has given our son and look forward to amazing things God has planned for his life.

A stronomical star-gazer

Joey's toy telescope as a child led to greater and bigger things as he discovered the awesome world of astronomy. He loves looking beyond the seen to the great big starry world "out there" in God's Creation....telescopes and cameras and cables abound in our home and his....a great hobby that brings great delight.

T op Five Bible quizzer, now quizmaster of national tournaments

Joey loves God's Word, a trait inherited from Grandpa Coletti, lover and memorizer of God's Word. Junior Bible Quiz, Teen Bible Quiz champion, now a tough Teen Bible Quizmaster in tournaments across the USA - Joey's a Master Memorizer. He remembers Bible verses with great skill, but may forget where he's left his coat or car keys....So what's more important? "Go figger!!!"

H igh-and-mighty housekeeping skills (yet to be determined and developed!!)

Now here lies the hopes and dreams of a dedicated Mama who has tried, tried, tried, to impress on this focused mathematician the importance of maintaining a home or apartment in reasonable fashion....So far, it is not working well.....but what's really important? "Go figger!!!" - and if you are empathetic, please sign up to help him clean his apartment. Mama thanks thee in advance!

OK, Dr. Mathematician, what else can we say? Only your family and close friends know for sure the many qualities of Christian manhood that you exemplify - kindness, generosity, commitment to Christ, a wacky dry sense of humor, love for family and so much more - ...We are so proud of you. Have a wonderful celebration of 30 years of an awesome, amazing life...so far.....We look forward to seeing what else God has for you, perhaps a wife and family someday so I can be a gramma....grin....Happy birthday....We love you, Joey...now go clean your apartment!

Dr. Joseph Bohanon is a retired professor of organic chemistry--46 years of faithful service at Evangel University.
