Heard about a getaway that wasn't so great--last week, a dog, frightened of the July 4th fireworks, ran away, across a busy street, and a family searched frantically for him. In desperation, they ran an ad in the paper, someone found their beloved pet, and he's now been returned to the family fold. ALMOST a "dog CATastophe!"...THAT's not the kind of getaway I'm talking about.

Now it's true there are times I'd like to run away from my kids (ok, so would you, admit it!), and there are also times I love my family and love my work, but I really need a break. THIS was one of those times, a special getaway that GOD planned for me...and when HE plans anything, He does it right. I spent time with family on the East Coast and got to my beloved ocean--it was just what I needed.

But there's something I--and you--need even more! That's a getaway with our God, a time apart from the world where we can be alone with the Lord. A time of refreshing and renewal we all need as we meet the challenges of each new day. He created us to fellowship with Him--to break away so we don't break apart...Let's make time in our day for the One who's waiting to talk to us, to lift us up, to love us and to give us the strength to carry on.

And someday there will be for us all a grand and glorious getaway when He takes His church to be with Himself. He's coming again--that's one getaway I don't want to miss--and neither do you, I know! Practice a getaway in His presence each day--and you'll be ready for that GREAT getaway in the sky someday. He's coming soon--believe it, and have a GREAT day!
