Twizzle!
Down the Path to the Well--a thought to remember along the way

We have a new pet at our house...Meet "Twizzle," a royal-blue fuzzy baby ostrich--no, not a REAL one, thank goodness! This is a marionette puppet and he hails from the ZOOM store at Crowne Center in Kansas City, MO. My son and I went shopping there while my husband attended a conference--I bought dresses; he bought "Twizzle!"
He's really no problem at all. Puppets on a string are like that. They come and go at your command, live to please and entertain you, follow wherever you lead them...all the things you'd like your kids or your mate to do! Anyone got some string to send me? Never mind--I don't want kids or a mate like that--neither do you--and I know SOMEONE else who doesn't either!
Long ago, "in the beginning," when God created man, He left off the strings. No way would He attempt to control or manipulate the crowning jewels of His creation. No, they would have the power of choice, a will of their own. They would have the ability to decide whether to revere God or run from God. It was their choice.
And it still is today. You can choose to obey Him, love Him, serve Him, live for Him--or you can walk away. No strings attached. I'm for obeying, loving, serving and living for Him--all on my own, how about you? Choose to follow Him THIS day--no strings attached--and have a wonderful day!

Delight in a Word from the Well--a refreshing in the Water of His Word

"...choose you this day whom ye will serve...
as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord (Joshua 24:15)."

Draw from the Well--a prayer for renewing strength for this day
Lord, You've made me with a will of my own, and stubborn as I am, sometimes I walk away. You draw me back, not with strings of manipulation, but with cords of love that bring me back where I belong. Help me to always remember that "strings" don't work--love does. May I be like You in my relationships, freeing others from my controlling whims, freeing them to choose on their own. May THEY choose to serve You too, as I have done. In Jesus' Name, Amen."
