Down the Path to the Well--a thought to remember along the way

The Day AFTER Pentecost!

The day after ANYTHING can be a "welcome back to reality" - whether it's the day after surgery (ouch!) or the day after your vacation (double ouch!)! "The day after" isn't always fun--it's back to business, back to the books, back to boring...or WAS it? NOT for the disciples who were in the Upper Room THAT day!

Peter, James, John--and 117 more--took the fire and wind of the Holy Spirit out into their world, preaching the Gospel in a new anointing and dynamic they had never known. Down through the centuries, men and women have answered the call and done the same, preaching the Gospel around the world, with signs and wonders following. And it's not over yet--for the "day-after" syndrome continues in MY hometown!

Today, the day after Pentecost Sunday at Central Assembly of God, Springfield, MO, my home church, a group of 24 believers fly to Moldova (formerly part of the Soviet Union) to minister in evangelism to a people embracing a new freedom and hunger for God in a country never dreamed possible....NEVER, but for the POWER of PENTECOST, which enters closed doors every day, EVEN the day AFTER Pentecost!

Pentecost doesn't stop with a one-day celebration and memorial tribute; it goes on and on in the lives of God's people, the day AFTER Pentecost, and every day until Jesus comes. It's God's fire and wind, burning and blowing in the hearts of His people. Let it burn and blow in YOUR heart this day after Pentecost--and have a wonderful Spirit-filled day!

Delight in a Word from the Well--a refreshing in the Water of His Word

"But ye shall receive power, after the Holy Spirit is come upon you; and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth (Acts 1:8)."

Draw from the Well--a prayer for renewing strength for this day

"Lord, I read how the Early Church touched their world for You long after the heavenly happening in the Upper Room! You're still moving in the lives and hearts of people everywhere. Let Your fire and wind burn and blow in my life today--and send ME forth, the day AFTER Pentecost, to proclaim Your love to a needy world! In Jesus' Name, Amen."
