Down the Path to the Well--a thought to remember along the way

Hot Flash!

If you're a woman over 40, or you LIVE with a woman over 40, I've got your attention! Now before you click me off as I hear you exclaim, "I can't believe she is writing about 'HOT FLASHES'," just wipe your brow and hang on a little longer....for I'm about to head to the Book of Daniel to tell you about one "hot flash" that three young men will never forget!
Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, determined to honor their God, refused to bow before the king's idol. The punishment was set. Talk about a hot flash--these brave young men were thrown into a fiery furnace made seven times hotter than usual. Three godly men to stand alone and die--NO! Listen to the king's words (Daniel 3:25), "Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like a son of the gods."
How ALMOST right he was! For the SON of the LIVING GOD had appeared on the scene to stand and walk with them. Freaked out the king, for sure, as they exited the furnace, their hair unsinged, their body untouched by the flames. Whole and unharmed, they stand before him--AND US--a GLOWING testimony to the God they served--not glowing from the flames, but glowing with the presence of a living God who shielded and protected them!
In the light of eternity, it was but a "hot flash," for sure, but what a story! Maybe you're going through a fiery furnace in your life today. The fire's hot...and Satan's adding fuel to make it hotter. Well, remember, the Lord you serve is WITH you in that trial. He is going to bring you through unburnt, unharmed and undefeated. AND...in the light of eternity, it's a "hot flash" - it will pass, and the red-hot testimony that comes out of that fire will bless and help others. Remember that as you--AND GOD--walk through the fires of your life this day!

Draw from the Well--a prayer for renewing strength for this day
"Lord, I'm in the furnace--the fire's been turned up hotter than I think I can stand it. I need to feel YOUR presence in the midst of the flames today, Lord. Walk WITH me in the fire; bring me THROUGH the fire--and I will praise Your name forevermore! In Jesus' Name, Amen."
