People sign up to receive the Fun 'n Faith newsletter (now Fun 'n Faith for the Soul blog) from around the world, but recently one submission caught my attention. Someone "in the middle of the Sahara Desert" wanted to be included on the list. Now I live "in the middle of the Midwest"--worlds apart--and yet he found me--isn't technology wonderful! I loved it!YOU may live in the middle of Manhattan, Minneapolis or Madrid--and yet you feel like you're in the desert too! A spiritual place that's dry, desolate--and dateless, for there seems to be no end! Take heart...for in the middle of the desert, there's a Stream...it flows freely to bring the Water of Life to your thirsty spirit, the wonderful presence of Christ into your "aloneness," and a "waiting grace" to your restless heart.
Desert time is never FUN - but the desert is where you will meet your Lord--in a new and precious way. You will learn spiritual lessons you could learn no where else--so don't be afraid of a desert experience! Head in the direction of God's Word--it will be an oasis of refreshment, renewal and rest for your weary soul. HE knows the temptations, trials and TRIUMPH of the desert--He's been there; He's met the foe; He's won the fight--and He did it with the Word of God. So can you!
Now believe it...head for that oasis of God's Word...and be refreshed today!
