Do you live in "Krispy Kreme" country? If you do, you have to be one of the luckiest people in the world--from what I've heard, that is! You see, I have NEVER, EVER tasted a Krispy Kreme donut and I "hear" they are to "die" for! I've got friends who enjoy telling their OTHER friends all about the wonders of the Krispy Kreme donut--while we sit and drool. And then to add insult to injury, my son comes home last night to announce that HE had tasted a Krispy Kreme donut...and it was everything it was cracked up to be!
Now how in the world does that make ME feel! I've even written the company to beg for a Krispy Kreme store in MY city and got a polite reply to my mad desire--but no mouth-watering donuts...and so I have to live on the second-hand testimonies of others--until I can taste the real thing! Reminds me...
You can't live on someone else's second-hand testimony either! Oh, sure, it sounds wonderful, and we can rejoice with a friend--but UNTIL it happens to us, until WE actually taste the goodness of God for OURSELVES, we are drooling, down-in-the-dumps stand-bys...hungering and longing for a taste, maybe resentful that we've never HAD a taste, and never quite getting there ourselves!
No need to do that! There's a "Bountiful Blessings" dine-in/take-out service in every nook and cranny of our world--a place where GOD is...because there is no place where He ISN'T...God's got wonderful promises and blessings, victories and answers to prayer NOT just for everyone else BUT you...but just FOR you today...Now believe it..."Taste and see that the Lord is GOOD!" Meet Him at the table He's set before you--the goodness of His heart, the grace of His Word, the glory of Himself--and you will not be disappointed!
AND...should you be lucky enough to live in Krispy Kreme country, go ahead and enjoy...I'll catch up with you SOMEDAY! But thank you, Krispy Kreme cronies--you've taught me a tasty lesson. FORGET the second-hand taste stuff! I want to taste for MYSELF--whether it's earth's donuts, or heaven's delights...how about you!
A KRISPY KREME UPDATE since writing this devo: Krispy Kreme is coming to Springfield, Missouri - is that good news or what!....The line forms to the right....grin....wow...I can't wait!
