I love to shop...but we're not going shopping today! Blue Jean Faith is not about BUYING blue jeans; it's not even about WEARING blue jeans--it's about BEING blue jeans, would you believe...and before you call the men in the white coats to take me away, let me explain!It's fun to feel like a "fair lady" or a "favored gent" when you're wearing fancy "Sunday-go-to-meetin'" clothes--but when it's time to get down to business, to the real-work-world, there's nothing like a pair of comfy blue jeans to do the job! It's called "practical Christianity" and when we "become the jeans we wear," we've begun to REALLY live!
Blue jean faith will work for you personally--it's rugged and real. In the tough times of life, it will send you to the Word for answers you don't have. It will drive you to your knees for wisdom that you need. Blue jean faith will keep you silent when you want to retort to an unkind word; it will hold you steady when you want to run; it will give grace when one more "Mommy!!" will surely send you up the wall.
It will work for your family too--"train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will not depart from it!" Blue jean faith gets down on the floor and builds block castles; it goes out in the yard and throws a ball--it hugs a dirty, messed-up kid; sends dreadful dragons packin'; has a supply of Band-aids in a kit, surprises in its pockets, and crayons in its hand.
And the world? Blue jean faith will bring a positive, practical message of Christ-like living to your world. It goes into the darkness of Calcutta to bring God's love; it walks into the jungles of Africa, the teeming cities of South America, the islands of the sea, with medical relief, food programs, construction projects--THAT'S blue jean faith!
Forget the fancy duds we wear on Sundays...they won't cut it the rest of the week when people need to see REAL faith where "rubber meets the road"--practical faith that walks the world in blue jeans so a needy world will see and know we're REAL! BE a blue-jean Christian today--let the Word work for REAL in your life--and you will have a wonderful day!
