In the Den with Daniel!
Down the Path to the Well--a thought to remember along the way
I love lions--when I view them at a distance in their friendly-safe zoo environment--and that's how most people view them too. But not THIS week! Attorney-General John Ashcroft found himself in the middle of a "den of lions"--the media roaring and reciting with great relish, his latest "terrible deed"--he was found PRAYING in his office!
It was an early-morning Bible study and prayer time in this Christian statesman's office, meeting with other Christians, completely voluntary--but the "windows" of "Daniel's abode" were wide open--and "Daniel" was heard! For shame! Hardly! Daniel would have been proud of him--and so are we. Unashamed of his faith in Christ, acknowledging his dependence for daily wisdom and guidance from the Lord he serves, Attorney-General John Ashcroft does not rate a scathing rebuke in the secular press; he rates our admiration and pride, and we salute him!
This up-to-date "Daniel," unafraid of the reaction of an unbelieving world, is a shining example to us all. No matter what our position in the workplace, we need the Lord and as long as He gives us breath, we will acknowledge our daily dependence on the God who rules over all--including the Justice Department of the United States of America!
Kings and kingdoms will someday voluntarily or involuntarily bow before the King of kings and Lord of lords. How reassuring to know there is at least one statesman--and many others, I'm sure--not afraid to be a Daniel--and not afraid to be heard! Lord, give us more "Daniels" in government to live righteously, stand fearlessly, and pray unceasingly...to be caught PRAYING "in the den!"
Dare to be a Daniel--and let the lions roar! You will please the Lord, your King--and you will have a wonderful day!
