Down the Path to the Well--a thought to remember along the way

I've watched him trudge down the hill each afternoon, bent over and burdened, as he heads toward "the chariot" for a ride home. His name is Pilgrim--no, his name is Jason--but he looks like "Pilgrim" come to life, straight out of the classic "Pilgrim's Progress!" My 17-year-old son has a backpack that is unbelievable, so heavy it can hardly be lifted....and when I've seen him lug it onto his back and heads down that hill, bent over like a very aged grandpa ('xcuse me, grandpas!), it's pathetically funny--only to Mom, of course!

Maybe you're carrying a heavy backpack today....oh, not filled with geometry, English and science books, but with the burdens of life....worry, sins, fears, problems weighing you down to despair and defeat. Those burdens were not meant for you to carry...they are for your Lord to lift. Won't you run--or drag yourself--to the Cross today, lay the backpack down, and rise to walk in the freedom and peace that only HE can give! Do it today--and have a wonderful, burden-free day!

Delight in a Word from the Well--a refreshing in the Water of His Word

"Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee;
he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved (Psalm 55:22)."

Draw from the Well--a prayer for renewing strength for this day

"Lord, the burden's heavy today--and I can go no further. I lay it at the Cross completely, where I know YOU will carry it for me--You will sustain and help me. Thank You today from the bottom of my heart for being my Burden-Bearer. I roll it all over on You, In Jesus Name, Amen."
