I love tacos, but alas, I was not destined to get my free one on this occasion! You heard the story--back in March of last year, TACO BELL had a "free taco" sign out in the middle of the South Pacific; if MIR, the Russian space station, landed on it, every American would be blessed with a free taco, compliments of the Mexican King!!
Now, how in the world could MIR, even with all its computerized guidance systems, EVER hit that thing on the nose! It was a chance in a zillion--and of course, it missed, but it wasn't all in vain. For you see, I am sure that many Americans, by the mere suggestion of the word "taco" to THEIR computerized brain systems, were running down to the nearest TACO BELL to feast on tacos--and lots more! I'll bet that wonderful chain of South-of-the-Border restaurants did pretty well that night!
A great p.r. stunt, to be sure, but it's more than that. You see, it also gave me a devotional for you--stop and think about it. If you and I were out in the middle of the sea tossing around (and maybe you ARE!), do you think GOD could find us? Would it be a "hit 'n miss" for Him? NO, a thousand times, NO! He knows exactly where we are, whether it's in the middle of the DEEP, blue sea; the middle of a dry, dry desert, or down in the belly of a whale, as was Jonah! He is here, there, everywhere, and He knows EXACTLY where we are and what we need.
And it's not tacos we need--It's His Word that will nourish us, keep us strong, bring us through difficult times--and HE can direct that Word right to our hearts exactly when we need it. So go ahead and munch on a delicious taco, if you'd like...but remember the real message--HE knows exactly where you are and what you need THIS day. Hold up your HELP sign and He'll be there, whether it's the South Pacific, South Chicago or South America! ADIOS--and "Dios te bendiga!" (God bless you!) until tomorrow!
