Puleeze--is Peggie going to talk about it TOO? Haven't we heard enough in the media about diets and exercise, weight loss and aerobics? Come on, Peg, give us a break! I AM--I'm giving us an extended HOLIDAY break to, without guilt, enjoy all the brownies, cookies, fudge, chocolate candy and ice cream, chips, pizza, etc., etc. TODAY--and then, beginning TOMORROW (it's ALWAYS "beginning tomorrow,") we will seriously at least consider a bit of weight loss and a bit more of exercise...
OK, maybe you're one of those fortunate people who can eat it all and not gain an ounce--as we, the other half of the world, LOOK at it and it leaps onto our waistline, hips, thighs, and other unknown parts of our aging, widening, dimpled, hanging-chad bodies! Join the crowd--we're all in this weight-watching thing together--some of us battle it more than others...don't you hate the no-gainers...well, maybe just dislike them a BIT...grin!
We're not alone in the "battle of the bulge"--sometimes we win, sometimes we lose--but that's just ONE-THIRD of the battle! God's Word tells us we are battling "the WORLD, the flesh and the DEVIL....two-thirds of it have nothing to do with diet and disciplined weight-watching...or...LOOK AGAIN!
The devil's into "weight-watching" too! You see, there's nothing our enemy, the devil, would like better than to see that we are UNDER-nourished with the Word of God and prayer, the disciplines of a godly life. We're busy people--sure, even Christians WORK!!--and how he, ole slewfoot, loves to break us down in the battle and say, "Not today--you're too busy..."! We end up malnourished and starving for spiritual food that only God can give--and unarmed to fight the real battle, of course, which is Satan's ultimate scheme!
Let's all wake up and smell the coffee and know what the REAL battle is all about. It's more than just the "flesh"--FAT as we may be--grin!! It's about the world and the devil too--and I'm ready to put on the armor of God, and beat the devil in his battle for my soul and my spiritual welfare! How about you!
Now go to Ephesians and get your FULL armor--don't forget the sword--and let's go into the New Year to WIN--and if your armor is size or two bigger than it should be, let's work on that TOO....and by His grace, we WILL win! Believe it--and have a great weight-watchin' day!!
