Heard about the neatest new gadget being tested to alert schoolkids that the bus is coming! "Bus Pal" is a mini-pager, placed in the home, which, when the bus is a few minutes down the road, will alert families, with a clever sing-song jingle, so kids can get to the school bus stop on time--and not have to wait endlessly, sometimes in dangerous conditions, for the bus to arrive and transport them to school. Thank you, technology experts!
I know another "expert" who's got all kinds of gadgets to trick and trap you--not to get you to school on time--but to climb aboard his bus bound for hell. He may temptingly beep to call, "Come on--join the crowd...we're on our way to FUN!" or he may never beep to announce he's coming--and just sneak up on you unawares, scaring you with a roar bigger than life!
You see, the devil's loading up a big bus that's bound for hell; he's driving and wants you to go along. If he can't get you with his high-tech song-and-dance, he'll just exit the bus and walk--on foot--to attack, annoy, accuse, harrass, tempt--trying to trap you as a Christian! Oh, you know better than to board the bus--but he sure can try the living daylights out of you to discourage, distress and oppress you. His roar can be mighty fierce--raging when we least expect it!
So what to do? God is way ahead of the devil's game--and we can be too! He warns us in His Word, "Be sober, be vigilant, because your adversary, the devil, like a roaring lion walketh about, seeking whom he may devour; whom resist steadfast in the faith...(1 Peter 5:8,9)."
So--beware! Next time he beeps--or tries to trip you on your path--listen carefully to the whispers of the Holy Spirit deep within, louder than any roar of that rascal. He will help you detect--AND destroy the devourer who is attacking you. Someday--his bus will roll right into hell, and by God's grace, WE won't be on it! I'm taking the bus bound for heaven, how about you!! Believe in the power of His Word, His Name and His Blood--refuse to walk--or ride--with old slewfoot, and have a great day!
