Thanksgiving at Peggie's Place . . . "Don't Let the Grinch Steal Thanksgiving!"
Christian friends on the Web "light up" my life--with emails at all hours of the day and night, bringing me love and laughter, prayer and praise, fun and faith--and I love it! But it's not all one-sided. For you see, I have this wild and wacky sense of humor that brightens up MY friends too! One good friend, who "rofl," with me many a day, (that's "rolls on the floor laughing," if you don't do WebSpeak!), dropped me a little note the other day saying, "You light up my life!" Nice--but she had no idea I'd make a devotional out of it!For I know Someone else who lights up my life--in incredible ways, day and night, even on the Web! He doesn't have email or a Web site; He's not on AOL'S Instant Messenger; He doesn't have an Internet newsletter or a brightly-designed banner--and yet His Light shines all OVER this World Wide Web. It warms our hearts and directs our way through devotionals, emails of friends, Christian Web pages, stories, poems--and His Word. How blessed we are--but...
Sometimes that Light does more than warm my heart and direct my way--sometimes it shines on the "dark side" of my life...that secret part of me that no one but myself, Himself--and my family sees! For you see, we brighten ourselves up for our public image--we'd never think of getting impatient, sarcastic, or impolite; of losing our temper or saying an unkind word to a stranger--but it's so easy to do with the ones we love. When the family door shuts behind us, sometimes the light goes out!! That's when His light goes on--and we'd better repent--'cause it burns right through us! "O wretched man that I am!" Let's admit it--we're all guilty!
"Work on us, Lord! Change us--shine us up, brighten us up, light us up--inside our homes and outside in our world." A tough call--but when we REALLY let go and let God light up our lives, we'll know it--and so will EVERYONE else! Believe it--be a bright, shining light to the loved ones with whom YOU live--and have a great day!
