"The Pit of Suffering!"

Daily Manna's Bible reading: Philippians 1:27-29 (NIV)

Me suffer? You've got to be kidding. I belong to the King who wishes me to succeed, not suffer. You've got the wrong gospel..... Oh, really? Not so....God's riches in Christ Jesus are love, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. But serving Him includes suffering for Him - or we've missed the point of the Gospel.

Ask the early believers who aimed to "know Him in the fellowship of His suffering"; ask the Persecuted Church who, in prisons around our world, know Him in ways we nevr will. In the midst of unbelievable suffering, saints of all the ages have found treasures beyond human understanding.

Hard? Yes, but He is there. As Corrie ten Boom once said, "There is no pit but that He is deeper still." Are you in a pit of suffering this day? Know that you are close to the heart of God, in fellowship with His suffering, and secure in His grace.

Believe it, receive it and have a God-filled, choco-covered day!

PRAYER: "Lord, I serve You with all my heart, and yet I see no prosperity from this world's standards. Help me to look beyond this world, to measure success by Your stick and to know You are with me and will deliver me from the pit, in Your own good time and way. Be with those saints of our Persecuted Church, in the pit of suffering right now - preserve and deliver them, In Jesus' Name, Amen."
