Good morning, good afternoon, good evening...wherever in the world you live! I hear you're a chocoholic too - I won't tell a soul! Chocolate is good for the body - and God's Word is good for the soul: "O taste and see that the Lord is good...(Psalm 34:8 KJV)." "The Gold Cord and a Generation Connection"
Daily Manna's Bible reading: Jeremiah 31:31-34 (NIV)
If I were to share my life's jouurnal, you'd be here a long time; I've made alot of wonderful connections with wonderful people. But there stands out one unforgettable night in that journal. I saw and heard a GENERATION CONNECTION like you would not believe! Five thousand teenagers, loud contemporary Christian music, high energy, electric worship, and JOY filled the RCA Dome in Indianapolis, Indiana, as teens joined adults (some of whom wished for ear plugs!) for a great "Generation Connection" celebration.Now usually there's not much to celebrate when you join two generations--what kind of music do you play? what do you wear? how do you talk? For we all know that "east is east; west is west, and never the twain shall meet."
NOT SO--following a dynamic message, teens were invited to make public commitments of faith in Jesus Christ, of their desire to serve and live for Him. The altar filled with thousands of teens. BUT it was hardly over--for then, the invitation was given for veteran ministers to join them. Each minister moved among the teens praying for each one, then placing a gold cord around his or her neck, symbolizing the touching of one generation by another, the passing on of ministry from one generation to another--an awesome sight I will never forget.
Awesome, indeed, but let's face REALITY--do these two generations--in some cases, three--have anything at ALL in common? Can they EVER possibly connect? You better believe it! Now you're too late for the service--but come along with me to the Well and see it through the eyes of the Spirit. Bring along a gold cord--you may need it for a teen YOU know!

Young and old CAN be on the same page - when that page is from the Word of God! Pray for the teens you know, ask God to help you connect with them in some novel, even fun way, and you will have a wonderful, youth-reviving, choco-rich day!
